Sunday's Bet of the Day extra: Wounded Manchester United can crush Swansea City
Sir Alex Ferguson's side may have lost initiative in the title race title but Willie Duncan expects United to breeze past Brendan Rodgers' out-of-sorts Swans at Old Trafford
Manchester United's hopes of retaining the English Premier League title were dealt a hammer blow last Monday night when Sir Alex Ferguson's side slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. That's a result which means that victory against Swansea City on Sunday is absolutely essential if United are to keep their slim title aspirations alive.
Despite last Monday's setback, the Red Devils are huge odds-on favourites to see off the challenge posed by Brendan Rodgers' side and 188Bet chalk the hosts up at just 3/20 (1.15) to pick up all three points here.
Swansea ensured that their Premier League status would remain intact for next season quite some time ago and the Swans have experienced a dip in form in recent weeks, epitomised by the loss of a three goal lead against relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend. That match ended in a 4-4 draw and Brendan Rodgers will be anxious to see his side defend more resolutely when they visit Old Trafford this weekend.
Indeed, Swansea can be backed to win here at a huge 12/1 (13.0) with 188Bet while the same firm offers 11/2 (6.50) on the match ending all square.
Should the Swans fail to tighten up at the back, United should coast to victory given the excellent attacking options open to Ferguson. Wayne Rooney, unsurprisingly, tops 188Bet's first scorer market just 9/4 (3.25) while probable striker partner Javier Hernandez is chalked up at 3/1 (4.00) with 188Bet to open the scoring.
United's attack is equally potent from wide positions and Nani is chalked up at 5/1 (6.0) with 188Bet to score first while Ashley Young is available at 11/2 (6.50) with the same firm to break the deadlock.Swansea's Danny Graham has enjoyed a fine first season in the top flight and will be keen to catch the eye on new England manager Roy Hodgson. Graham is 14/1 (15.0) with 188Bet to score first.
United could be in rampant mood as they desperately seek to overhaul their city rivals and the 9/20 (1.45) for Manchester United to lead at half time is the best bet on offer here.
