King hails Nelsen impact at Tottenham
The Spurs defender has praised the New Zealander's role in Tuesday's quarter-final victory over Bolton, and is hopeful of a positive Wembley trip to take on Chelsea next month
Ledley King has hailed the impact of Ryan Nelsen since his arrival at Tottenham in January, with the defender’s header helping his new side secure an FA Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea.
Goals from the former Blackburn man, Louis Saha and Gareth Bale saw Spurs see off Bolton 3-1 at White Hart Lane in Tuesday’s rearranged quarter-final tie.
The New Zealander opened the scoring on the night, and King has not only praised Nelsen’s contribution to the game, but also in general since he sign a short-term deal at the club.
"He's a great professional and coming straight into the team wouldn't have been easy because he hasn't played too much football this season," King told the club's official website.
"He fitted in straight away, showed his quality and added a lot to the squad.
"He came up with a great header against Bolton and lifted a few nerves around the stadium. From there, we got the second quickly and looked comfortable."
King secured League Cup success at Wembley back in 2008, and is hoping for another positive trip to the stadium when Tottenham take on Chelsea on Sunday April 15.
"It's great to be going back to such a fantastic stadium and such an occasion against Chelsea," he said.
"We know all about the club's tradition in the FA Cup and it feels good to be going back there for another semi-final."
