The striker, who has hit 35 goals in all competitions this term, is out of contract next summer and is rumoured to be the subject of interest from Manchester City.
After securing the transfer of German striker Lukas Podolski from Koln, Wenger is excited about the potential within his young squad.
Speaking to the club's official website, Wenger said, "First, we want Robin to stay because he is convinced that we can play for the Championship, believe we have that.
"We have bought Lukas Podolski and our next step is to bring Jack Wilshere back and Abou Diaby back. Then, if you look at our squad, I don't feel we are behind anybody else."
The Gunners face Norwich on Saturday at the Emirates and are looking to cement their grip on third in the Premier League.
