Manchester United midfielder Matty James will take advantage of the emergency loan window to get some first-team games at Preston North End.

The window opens on Tuesday and James will team up with Sir Alex Ferguson's son Darren at Deepdale until the end of the season.

The England under-20 international will also join forces with fellow Reds youngster Danny Welbeck who is already on loan at North End.

Ferguson told his club's official website on Monday: "He [James] is a good passer, he's got plenty of energy, he's a good size for a young lad, he'll come into it tomorrow and we are looking forward to working with him.

"It's an area which I said we have needed to strengthen, so I am pleased to get him on board; he's a good one for us.

"There's a connection with Danny Welbeck, they have played together a lot and that will help."

It's not the only Preston connection for James, whose young brother Reece is also at Deepdale with North End's under-16s side.
