Goal.com Fanview: What are Manchester United fans' favourite David Beckham moments?
Red Devils fans reminisce about returning icon
David Beckham's return to Manchester United has got the whole world talking. Fans of the club will finally be able to see their former hero set foot on his old stomping ground on Wednesday night when United take on AC Milan.
No matter the high stakes on offer in the crucial Champions League tie, all eyes are on Beckham.
'Golden Balls' left a legacy to be proud of at Old Trafford during a 10-year stay that included 85 goals in 394 appearances.
He joined Real Madrid in 2003, but not before becoming the world's most famous footballer, amassing a legion of admirers - not all of them football fans - along the way.
Goal.com UK hit the streets of Manchester to ask supporters to share their favourite Beckham memories...
from Armagh, Northern Ireland
"Personally, my favourite memory of Becks comes from a pre-season friendly I saw him play in. It was in 1996 when United played Portadown, and I remember seeing this blonde fella walk past me. Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs and all the other stars were there, but just a few months later Beckham scored that goal against Wimbledon that started it all for him."
from Dundalk, Northern Ireland
"The Armani advertisements that Beckham did are hard to forget, but for me, my favourite memory of his time at United was when he was actually playing for England.
His performance in the win against Greece in 2002 at Old Trafford was amazing. When he scored that free kick, it was incredible."
from Blackpool
"I've watched United games for too long to remember but you can't look past that goal he scored against Wimbledon in 1996. It's one of the best goals I've ever seen a United player score. To hit one in from the half-way line was unbelievable."
from Malaysia
"I'm not the biggest football fan but for me, it was the things that Beckham did as a fashion icon. He was the first footballer to dress the way he did and I loved it when he wore the sarong and things like that. You can't forget some of the things he did on the pitch, though. The goal against Wimbledon was amazing."
from Stockport
"The goal from the half-way line is definitely my favourite memory of David Beckham at United. People like George Best, Bobby Charlton and Eric Cantona have all played for United and not even they did something like that."
