thumbnail Hello,

The Croatian legend has hailed the performances of his compatriot since he made a January move to Goodison Park and believes that he has a bright future in England

Former Arsenal striker Davor Suker has insisted that it is no surprise compatriot Nikica Jelavic has made such a prolific start to life at Everton.

The ex-Rangers forward has scored six goals in nine Premier League appearances since his £7 million move in January.

And after being impressed with his compatriot's superb start to his Everton career, Suker claims 26-year-old Jelavic can flourish in England for years to come.

"He is a goalscorer and he is a good person, he can do a great job for Everton," Suker told the club's official website.

"The confidence of the team improves when you know you have a striker who can score goals. To score 20 goals minimum, that is the point of the main striker. For every chairman, every gaffer, when signing a striker, that is the point.

FOLLOW THE JELAVIC ROAD
33/1 Nikica Jelavic is 33/1 with Paddy Power to score a hat-trick when Everton face Fulham on Saturday.

“He works well on the training ground and he thinks only about football. I think he can score more than 20 goals next season."

Jelavic scored the first and the third goals for David Moyes' side as they completed a remarkable comeback to draw 4-4 against Manchester United at the weekend. Suker believes the quality of those finishes show how well the former Hadjuk Split and Austria Vienna striker has settled into life on Merseyside.

"I have seen the goals, I didn't see the whole game but it was excellent for Everton and Nikica," he said.

"He is really enjoying the Premier League and I am sure he will do a great job for Everton. I hope that will help Croatia in this summer's European Championships.

"It is not a surprise that he is doing so well. I know him from Croatia, I know him from Rapid Vienna. I know he works very hard and is a player with a great future."
