The Manchester United star believes the Red Devils have learned much from conceding the Premier League trophy to their neighbours in the last minutes of the season

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is hoping the mistakes of last season's trophyless campaign will not be repeated.

United had been in pole position to retain their Premier League title last season, as they stood eight points clear of neighbours Manchester City at the top of the table with just six games remaining.

However, City were able to snatch the title on goal difference thanks to a last minute goal from Sergio Aguero on the final day of the campaign.
BOUNCING BACK
5/2 Manchester United are 5/2 with William Hill to win the Premier League next season.

"I think we all learned a lot," Rooney told the club's official website. "There have been a lot of games where you get a feeling afterwards that you never want to have again. Hopefully we can get hold of that feeling and make sure it doesn't happen again.

"Just look at all the young players in the squad - they've played a lot of games, had a lot of ups and downs, and most of them are already getting selected for their national teams.

"That's all going to help them. The next two or three years will be a big test for them, and I'm sure we'll all pull through it." BT Group
