Carroll should stay at Liverpool, say Goal.com readers
The 23-year-old England international has recently been linked with a move away from Anfield, with AC Milan and West Ham said to be interested in a temporary switch
Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has not been at his impressive best since a £35 million move in January 2010 but, following talk of a loan spell away from Anfield, over a third of Goal.com readers have voiced their disapproval at the touted move. The newly-appointed Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to move away from a 4-4-2 formation and revert to a free-flowing 4-3-3 setup, a switch that would seemingly not suit the striker.
West Ham and AC Milan have been linked recently, but Carroll's €100,000- (£80,000)-a-week wages would appear to be a stumbling block for the striker's reportedly preferred option.
The 23-year-old is thought to be against a move abroad, however Liverpool are keen to prevent any impact the striker could have on the club's Premier League campaign for another side in the division.
And 36 per cent of those polled want Liverpool to keep Carroll and use in him in the first team, despite talk that the Anfield outfit are chasing the signatures of fellow forwards Fabio Borini and Daniel Sturridge.
However, 22% of the votes fell in favour of a temporary switch for the striker, and 24% went further and opted for the club to cut their losses and sell the former Newcastle man altogether.
In a poll which was close throughout, a slightly smaller portion of our readers voted in favour of Carroll being used in a bit-part role, as 17% opted for the impact substitute option.
