Player Ratings: Lille 2-1 Paris Saint-Germain

Hazard and Roux were in fine form as the defending champions came from behind to earn a pivotal victory. Goal.com assesses all the performances on show in northern France

Might have done a little better with the initial cross as PSG opened the scoring. The veteran goalkeeper dealt with everything else confidently, but he was rarely stretched massively.

    Mathieu Debuchy

The man expected to start for France in the right-back slot in Euro 2012 couldn’t impose himself as an offensive weapon as he often does. When he did push on, though, he had a big influence, such as with the winning goal. Strong when faced with the likes of Pastore and Nene, though.

  • Lucas Digne

    Lucas Digne

The teenager slotted into the left-back berth due to the suspension of Franck Beria, and he certainly did not look out of place amongst illustrious company. Physically robust, he also displayed a fine range of passing and got forward intelligently.

  • A. Chedjou

    A. Chedjou

Enjoyed a terrific first-half performance, bossing the PSG forwards. Is being monitored by several of Europe’s top clubs, and was strong in every aspect of his defensive work, showing a good turn of speed.

  • Marko Basa

    Marko Basa

Gave the PSG attackers a rough ride with his sheer physical strength, though looked a little sluggish compared to Gameiro and Pastore.

  • Florent Balmont

    Florent Balmont

Arguably man of the match when the sides met in Paris earlier this season, the industrious midfielder was more subdued on this occasion. Just coming back from injury, the former Lyon man was not his usual dynamic self with the ball.

  • Eden Hazard

    Eden Hazard

Once again Lille’s outstanding player. Under the eyes of Manchester City official Patrick Vieira, the young Belgian was excellent once more, testing Sirigu on multiple occasions and hitting the inside of the post with a fizzing low drive before he scored a penalty. Used possession well, creating several chances for his team-mates, playing a major role in the winning goal.

  • Benoit Pedretti

    Benoit Pedretti

Withdrawn after less than an hour to make way for the more enterprising Cole, the former Auxerre man struggled to make the impression that he would have wanted. After a promising start his tempo dropped, and so did that of his team.

  • Rio Antonio Mavuba

    Rio Antonio Mavuba

Extremely busy n the centre of the field, making countless tigerish interceptions in the midfield and disrupting PSG attacks regularly. Led his side with determination throughout.

  • Dimitri Payet

    Dimitri Payet

Started the game in a very positive attitude, showing excellent technique on several occasions, but faded thereafter. Did offer an offensive threat, with a shoot-on-sight policy in place around the box. Drew a good save from Sirigu with a deflected second-half shot before being replaced by Roux.

  • De Melo

    De Melo

The big Brazilian was another to start the match in a very positive fashion, getting an excellent header on goal that was well saved in the early stages. Things never quite went according to plan for the striker, who miscontrolled when well placed in the second half..

Failed to make much of an impression after arriving before the hour mark.

A stunning cameo from the January signing. Seconds after coming on he had won a penalty, and he would strike the winning goal, too.

  • Salvatore Sirigu

    Salvatore Sirigu

Was forced into action on multiple occasions in the early stages of the match, dealing with all of Lille’s shots with great assurance. Commanded his box well, clutching a number of crosses. Had little chance with either goal.

  • Milan Biševac

    Milan Biševac

Caught out rather easily by a number of Lille’s quick one-twos before being withdrawn injured late in the first half. Unconvincing during his time on the field.

  • Siaka Tiéné

With Maxwell still missing because of injury, the Ivory Coast left-back was deployed once more, though some of his passing was sloppy. Threw himself into each challenge with great gusto, but Payet was a handful for him.

  • Alex

    Alex

Due to his lack of pace, he was caught on a couple of occasions, but although the Brazilian defender was excellent for periods, he was caught out decisively towards the end. Strong in the air in the PSG box, and offered a threat from set pieces at the other end.

  • Christophe Jallet

    3.00

    Christophe Jallet

Known for his raids down the right side, the ex-Lorient full-back was restricted in an offensive manner because of Lille’s threat. Was left standing by Hazard on a couple of occasions, but dealt with Balmont well.

  • Nenê
    6
    9
    2.50

    Nenê

Looked furious to be the man sacrificed after PSG were reduced to 10 men, with the Ligue 1 Player of the Year nominee doubtless thinking there were better tactical options open to Ancelotti. In truth, he didn’t have his best game and was largely subdued.

  • Blaise Matuidi

    Blaise Matuidi

Another excellent performance from the dynamic midfielder, who made several key challenges and played a significant role in stifling Lille. Started a number of attacks with some simple but quick passing.

  • Mohamed Lamine Sissoko

    Mohamed Lamine Sissoko

Back in the PSG squad after suspension, the holding midfielder was relatively restrained with his tackling. Held his position well and restricted Lille’s strength through the centre of the field until overwhelmed late on.

  • Javier Pastore

    4
    3.00

    Javier Pastore

Scored the opening goal of the evening with a pinpoint header after Landreau failed to deal with a Gameiro cross. Despite this positive contribution, the Argentine could have been more productive with his ball.

  • Thiago Motta

    6
    2.50

    Thiago Motta

Seemed to be in a bit of trouble as he was booked for a rash challenge with only three minutes on the clock but composed himself to produce an efficient performance in the midfield.

  • Kevin Gameiro

    7
    3.00

    Kevin Gameiro

Worked very hard for his side but struggled to get the better of Chedjou. When he did break free, he had his shot turned wide by Landreau. This missed chance proved vital in the match.

Came off the bench in the first period, having fallen out of favour with Ancelotti. Didn’t do himself any favours, either, as he was caught out by Roux, leading to a penalty for Lille. Perhaps harshly dismissed, but it came from his own error. Quite simply a nightmare match for the youngster.

  • Diego Lugano

Replaced Nene as PSG tried to shore up after going down to 10 men. Struggled once more.

    Guillaume Hoarau

Failed to really stretch the Lille rearguard after replacing Gameiro.
