The Rio de Janeiro institution have long been linked with the former Netherlands international and began talks with the veteran at the end of 2011 with a view to signing him at the end of his Milan contract.
Negotiations have proceeded slowly, however, as Seedorf's wage demands have proved a large obstacle to completing a deal.
However, Puma are ready to step in and aid the Glorioso in their efforts, according to Lance. The company signed a contract with Botafogo to become their primary kit supplier in December 2011, and they would be prepared to take on an undisclosed percentage of the star's salary as part of their long-term marketing strategy.
Wednesday's report suggests that Puma would give Seedorf the No. 4 shirt upon completing a deal with Botafogo and make him the centre of their advertising campaigns, in order to sell more shirts and merchandise related to the Fogao.
The player himself has already expressed his admiration for football in the South American country and is married to a Brazilian.
