The Blaugrana are looking to add some fresh blood to their defence ahead of the 2012-13 campaign, and have long been linked with a search for a new left-back.
Valencia defender Jordi Alba remains the club's first choice for the position, but they are also taking an interest in the 19-year-old Alaba.
The Austria international made his first-team debut at Bayern in February 2010, and has developed into a key player under head coach Jupp Heynckes this term.
Nevertheless, Barcelona face a tough task to lure Alaba to Camp Nou if they opt to make a move for the versatile youngster.
The youngster has a contract with Bayern until the summer of 2015, and it is very unlikely that the Champions League finalists will consider selling their left-back.
Additionally, the former Austria Vienna starlet has revealed that he is very happy with life at the Allianz Arena.
