Napoli do not need a striker, says De Laurentiis
The 63-year-old insists that the club are not in the market for a frontman this summer, preferring to look for defensive reinforcements insteadNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has stressed that he is not looking for a striker, despite Ezequiel Lavezzi's imminent move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Partenopei are set to lose the Argentina international to the Ligue 1 runners-up, but De Laurentiis has reiterated his desire to bolster other areas in the squad first.
"We must strengthen the defence and midfield. I do not think we need to take a striker as we already have [Eduardo] Vargas, [Lorenzo] Insigne, [Edinson] Cavani and [Goran] Pandev," the outspoken patron told Radio Marte.
"We will not create chaos within the squad. After all, Lavezzi and [Marek] Hamsik have grown so much because we had the patience to make them grow.
"You cannot think only about the coming season, but we must look to the future because [Uefa president Michel] Platini has determined that you must have your accounts in order. Arab [owners] would not solve the problems of our football."
Napoli finished the season in fifth place in Serie A.
