Niall Quinn not interested in returning to Manchester City as chief executive

Former Citizens striker has distanced himself from rumours suggesting that he was in contention to succeed Garry Cook at the Premier League leaders
Niall Quinn has ruled himself out of the running to become Manchester City's new chief executive.Quinn, who played for the Citizens between 1990 and 1996, told BBC Radio Manchester that the role did not appeal to him. The former Sunderland chairman was touted as a possible successor to Garry Cook, who left the club last September. The role has been vacant ever since.
"What they need is someone who can travel the world and make Manchester City as big as, or certainly challenging with, the big clubs," said Quinn.
The Dubliner left Sunderland in February after five years as chairman at the club which he served as a player, manager and director of international development. He said the Black Cats were the only club for whom he would have done 'more than play for.'
"The club was in pretty bad shape when I went in there so I felt as if I had to do it. It wasn't a chosen career path, it arrived at me. I got stuck in and did it," said the former striker, who earned 92 caps for Ireland.
He added: "I had six great years at Sunderland doing that but it was a natural end for me. I'm not quite sure what the next step is."
The 45-year old is currently focusing on his media commitments along with a fledgling satellite broadband business as well as his sport treatment clinic.
