The Derry-born star has been tipped to make Ireland's 23-man panel, which is announced on Monday. Trapattoni gave McClean's chances a boost on Saturday by saying he has a '90 to 99 per cent' chance of being included for the trip to Poland.
"It would be unreal," McClean told ExtraTime.ie. "Being in the squad for the Czech Republic match was a memorable occasion for me and my family, and hopefully there will be good news come Monday.
"I'm not getting ahead of myself though. First and foremost I have a game against Fulham on Sunday to prepare for. Obviously it would be a great honour, but my season isn't over yet so hopefully I can keep pushing on at Sunderland," said the 23-year old.
McClean has been in superb form for the Black Cats netting five goals in 21 Premier League games, including a stunning free kick against Bolton Wanderers last weekend.
