The Accumulator: Birmingham vs Bristol City and the five other games that could see you win big this weekend

Latest Notts County - Bury Betting Preview: Expect goals to be far and few between at Meadow Lane Previous
By Jim Knight and Richard Parry
13 Apr 2012 14:20:00

After a near miss last week which saw all the 3pm kick-offs winning at half-time we have six more selections for the weekend with special prices and offers from Sportingbet

FIRST BET
CHAMPIONSHIP
Barnsley
VS
Cardiff City
Forecast:
AWAY WIN
Birmingham City
VS
Bristol City
Forecast:
HOME WIN

Barnsley should now be safe from relegation although their recent form will be a major worry to Keith Hill and his staff who have seen their side pick up just four points from their last six games. More worryingly ahead of the visit of Cardiff is the fact they’ve only scored two goals in that time. The Bluebirds are unbeaten in six and although they’ve not been firing on all cylinders, the fact that they could slip out of the play-off spots if they don’t claim three points means they should be able to get the best of an inferior Barnsley side.

Birmingham host Bristol City in a game where both sides have something to play for, albeit at opposite ends of the Championship table. The hosts are looking to secure a play-off spot and ensure they get a favourable draw by finishing in the top two places. The visitors are just four points off the drop zone and could be in League One next season if results go against them. The Blues have been solid in recent weeks with three wins in their last four, scoring 12 goals in that time. Bristol City have won their last two against fellow strugglers Coventry and Nottingham Forest but face a very different proposition in Birmingham, who also won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Ashton Gate.

SECOND BET
LEAGUE ONE
Sheffield United
VS
Leyton Orient
Forecast:
HOME WIN
Colchester
VS
Sheffield Wednesday
Forecast:
AWAY WIN

Sheffield United are the form team in League One, five straight wins and bags of goals have seen them surge into second place. They host a Leyton Orient side that are just four points above the relegation zone and have lost five of their last six looking devoid of confidence in front of goal. For those reasons, and with United not yet assured of their automatic promotion, it’s difficult to see past the hosts here and they are the first pick for this division.

Sheffield Wednesday, much like their city rivals, have been a real force of late. Four straight wins, all without conceding a goal, mean Dave Jones’ side are just two points off second place and the Owls visit a Colchester side whose chances of a play-off place have disappeared in recent weeks. Without a win for over a month, the hosts haven’t been able to capitalise on their previously promising position and although they have been able to grind out draws, Wednesday should have too much for them now they have little else to play for.

SECOND BET
LEAGUE TWO
Crawley Town
VS
AFC Wimbledon
Forecast:
HOME WIN
Macclesfield Town
VS
Crewe Alexandra
Forecast:
AWAY WIN

Crawley have had a pretty turbulent time of late, manager Steve Evans has departed for Rotherham who are six places below his previous club in the table. Despite this upheaval the hosts have continued to produce positive results and although they may not stroll to automatic promotion as many expected, they remain just two points off third spot. AFC Wimbledon have had a woeful time of late, five defeats in six mean their season looks set to end on a low note despite seemingly having retained their league status. Crawley should see off the visitors and continue their hunt for a second straight promotion.

Conversely, Macclesfield Town are in real trouble at the bottom of League Two, their last win came on New Year’s Eve and since then things have spiralled from bad to worse. Five defeats in six and the visit of high-flying Crewe this weekend will do little to encourage the Macclesfield faithful. The visitors have won four of their last six and conceded just twice in that run, with two play-off spots realistically up for grabs, Alex should add to the home side's woes and pick up three vital points.
