Shillong Lajong FC and Salgaocar Sports Club played out a stalemate in their final fixture to conclude their 2011-2012 I-League campaign, on Friday.
There were no goals for either side in the match played at the Jawarharlal Nehru Sports Complex in Shillong as the home side have ensured the 10th spot for themselves in the league table after finishing with 28 points.
On the other side, Salgaocar have managed 44 points from their 26 outings with Karim Bencherifa's unit having to hope for Prayag United (42) to drop points in their match against Dempo for a sixth place finish.
After a cautious start to the match, the home team put down at least two chances to take the lead as Sushil Singh and Boithang Haokip failed to convert in the 24th and 36th minutes respectively with Eugenson Lyngdoh being the creator on both occasions.
The second half however could have well seen the Goans seal a win when Salgaocar were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute. Substitute Edeh Chidi took the spotkick but the Nigerian's shot went over the crossbar as the full time score ultimately remained 0-0.
