He was only 16 years old when Arsenal signed him in 2004 from FC Copenhagen where he had played since he was 10. He was nursed in the youth ranks during his first year but in the 2005-06 season he played for the reserves and also had 3 substitute appearances for the first team in the Carling Cup.
Because of his young age and to get some experience he was loaned out to Birmingham for the 2006-07 season where he helped them get promoted to the Premier League.
He also won his first cap for Denmark in August 2006. The next two seasons he established himself in Arsenal's first team albeit as a reserve to Emmanuel Adebayor, Eduardo and Robin van Persie.
In his second full season for Arsenal he scored 15 goals in 50 appearances
Bendtner is a big and strong player and he has the ability to link midfield and attack with intelligence then finish off the move with precision for both club and country.
He is an all-round forward who combines well with his team mates and he can score from inside and outside the penalty area and from headers as well. This year will give him a chance to perform on the big stage in South Africa as he is Morten Olsen's first choice in attack.

He was the youngest ever player to win 25 caps for Denmark a record previously held by Michael Laudrup. Bendtner was 21 years, 75 days old when he achieved this feat.
