The two female national teams will take part in the tournament in London for the first time in their history
The draws of the first round of the women’s football tournament at the London 2012 Olympics took place in London on April 24.Cameroon and South Africa, the African representatives that will be making the trip to London, were drawn in pools A and B respectively.
The lionesses of Cameroon will lock horns with host Great Britain, New Zealand and Brazil who have grabbed two successive silvers medals in the previous Olympics.
Banyana Banyana will be in pool B, meaning that they will meet 2011 Women’s World Cup winners Japan, Canada and Sweden.
The two African representatives are making their debut appearances at this tournament after having eliminated Nigeria and Ethiopia in the Caf Women’s Pre-Olympic tournament.
