Nigeria Premier League: Enyimba FC sign four players in transfer window
The Aba-based side hope that their new recruitments will help the team snag a continental berth
Enyimba FC of Aba coach, Austin Eguavoen, has revealed that the four new players recruited into the squad will help the Aba-based side achieve their goals in the Nigeria Premier League.
Enyimba defeated Kwara United 2-0 in Aba on Wednesday. Eguavoen spoke after the game and said that the challenge of goal scoring will be solved with the new recruitments.
“You see we missed a lot of scoring chances against Kwara United. It has always been our greatest undoing,” said Eguavoen.
The four new players are Fabiyi Babinton from CSK FC, Moscow, Fredrick Okwara and Rasaq Adegbite from Rangers FC of Enugu, while the fourth player will be unveiled after formal clearance from his former team.
“With all due respect, Kwara United is a very good team, no doubt, but I think it could have been a minimum of 4-0,” Eguavoen added.
The coach expressed optimism that the team’s ambition to get a continental ticket was still on course, and that the newly signed players would play a pivotal part in the quest.
“We have gotten some players; we actually signed four in the transfer window. My target is to get a continental ticket. You can see we are still on course for that,’’ Eguavoen said.
Kwara United Coach, Tunde Sanni, though was quick to debunk the notion that his team should have been white-washed and promised a better team after it had been fortified for the second stanza.
“Our ambition is to do well, but you can see, may be when we fortify our team, you know the transfer window is still open, by the time we fortify our team, we will come back again,” Sanni said.
