Monchengladbach reportedly looking to sign Claudio Pizarro

The experienced Peruvian hitman was believed to be close to joining Bayern Munich yet it appears the Bavarians have some competition for the striker's signature

Borussia Monchengladbach are interested in bringing Claudio Pizarro to club in the summer, according to Express.

The Foals have already secured fourth spot in the Bundesliga with one game to go and are looking to strengthen their team ahead of next season's Champions League campaign.

With star playmaker Marco Reus set to join Borussia Dortmund ahead of the 2012-13 season, Gladbach have earmarked the experienced Peruvian as the man to replace the youngster.

Pizarro has already announced he will leave Werder Bremen in the summer and was believed to be close to securing a move back to former side Bayern Munich.

However, both parties have denied a deal has been agreed and the Bavarian giants are reportedly closing in on a move for Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud.

Due to Lucien Favre's team's superb campaign in the Bundesliga, there has been plenty of interest in their key performers with Reus not the only upcoming departure.

Defender Dante will join Bayern Munich while midfielder Roman Neustadter has already agreed to play for Bayer Leverkusen.
