Neither side could assert its offense as D.C. is held scoreless at home against the Sounders.

Despite having the league's reigning Most Valuable Player Dwayne De Rosario, D.C. United continues to have issues scoring.

Hosting the Seattle Sounders, Ben Olsen's men were held scoreless in a 0-0 draw. The club has only five goals in its opening five matches even though it has a roster that features De Rosario, Chris Pontius and designated player Hamdi Salihi.

Not that Seattle is much better to start its season. The Sounders share United's output in scoring with five goals even with clinical forward Fredy Montero on the roster.

With both sides operating defensively, it was Seattle that had a better chance of coming away with three points. The Sounders had a slight edge in possession, holding the ball 52 percent of the time and getting more shots off, 11 to D.C.'s eight attempts.

Montero had a chance to put the game to bed in the dying moments of the game. Eddie Johnson found the Colombian just outside of the box and the striker put too much into a right footed attempt that just sailed past the goal.

D.C. remains eighth in the Eastern Conference while Seattle is sixth in the West.
