Colorado Rapids 1-2 San Jose Earthquakes: San Jose successfully navigates the Rapids
Yet another crucial late goal by Alan Gordon helped San Jose equalize and a Wondolowski penalty finished off the Rapids.

Doug Pensinger
Prior to this game, the San Jose Earthquakes hadn't played since May 27. It took a while for the visitors to get going, eventually equalizing in the 83rd minute and scoring the winner in injury time of the 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids. Brian Mullan had put the Rapids ahead in the first half, and Alan Gordon restored parity before Chris Wondolowski won it.
In the 18th minute, Hunter Freeman lofted the ball into the box. Brian Mullan backed off his marker and placed a looping header over David Bingham to score his first goal of the season.
That slender lead held for most of the match. Naturally, it was Gordon who equalized. Of the striker's five goals this season, two have been winners and three equalizers. None has come earlier than the 72nd minute.
In stoppage time, Wondolowski put away a penalty to give San Jose the come-from-behind win.
