Marco Pappa got the Chicago Fire off to a brilliant start inside two minutes. That and a second from Dominic Oduro helped the hosts run past the Columbus Crew 2-1.
Pappa's solo effort in the second minute of the match was a screaming hit that seemed to shock the Columbus defense and put the Fire out to a very early lead.
Oduro netted in the 26th after picking up a Sebastián Grazzini through ball and using pace and power to hold off a defender before slotting it home.
Tony Tchani pulled a goal back for the Crew in the 36th with a nice finish of his own, but in the second half neither side could find hte mark and the Fire walked away with a win, despite going down a man when Gonzalo Segares was ejected after half an hour.
