Veteran Hull City striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has praised strike partner Jozy Altidore after the pair's recent run of form.

The two have formed a partnership that was typified when the veteran Dutchman teed up the young American for his first goal in the Premier League against Manchester City.

"He is a very talented young man and a big handful for central defenders,” Vennegoor of Hesselink told the Hull Daily Mail.

"The way he plays around me gives us both something to build on.

"As a striker you want to score goals, that's the most important thing, but assisting Jozy brings its own enjoyment and the confidence is going up and up and up."

The partnership brings a mixture of youth and experience to Phil Brown's attacking line and although he may have only scored the once so far in the Premier League, Vennegoor of Hesselink believes Altidore has a big future ahead of him.

"Jozy is confident with himself but you have to adjust a little bit in your head and you need to understand how British football works," he said.

"I had that when I first came to the UK, it's a different culture.

"Jozy is doing a great job with that but everyone must remember he's only 20 years old.”

Despite both players' run of form, Brown may opt against West Ham to hand Egyptian striker Amr Zaki his first start since his loan move to the club during the January transfer window.
