United States international Daniel Williams is out for four to six weeks with shoulder injury

The versatile midfielder is out for four to six weeks with a shoulder injury that makes his status questionable for June for World Cup qualifiers.

Hoffenheim has released a statement on its official website that United States international Daniel Williams is out four to six weeks with a shoulder injury. The news has put the versatile midfielder's status for next month's friendlies and World Cup qualifiers in doubt.

Williams partially tore a shoulder muscle while lifting weights. He will now miss Hoffenheim's final two games of the season. Williams' recovery time would mean that the 23-year-old will be facing a fitness battle for the U.S.'s upcoming matches against Scotland, Brazil and Canada in friendlies and World Cup qualifiers against Antigua & Barbuda and Guatemala.

A defensive midfielder and full back for Hoffenheim, Jurgen Klinsmann has used Williams as a winger due to persistent injuries to Landon Donovan. With the Galaxy star expected to return to the national team, it was expected that Klinsmann would utilize Williams in the role where he excels in with his club.

Williams has made 17 appearances for Hoffenheim this season and has five international caps with the USA.
