Free-kick to Uruguay on the right flank. Pereira goes for the blast from distance, and the ball is always rising and heads over the crossbar.

Keisling does brilliantly to turn and make space, but his blast is parried by Muslera who gets it clear. Great effort and play from Germany.

Schweinsteiger sees his effort fly wide of the mark following a deflection. Ozil takes the corner, but it's cleared.

Cacau goes for glory with a right-foot smash, but it is a poor effort and he sees it fly behind goal and towards the fans.

Jansen goes for the right-foot shot, just wide of Muslera's near post.

Suarez wins the corner off Schweinsteiger. Forlan delivers it with pace. It falls to Suarez, but he blazes over the bar.

Great save from Butt who makes a great save on Forlan. Excellent football by Uruguay who continue to probe and find ways to goal.

Great cross from Ozil, Muller flicks it on, but Caceres gets his foot in the way. It's still with Germany. Uruguay clear and break. Suarez smashes it from distance, Butt makes the save.

And the game is frantic at the moment. It's anyone's affair as both teams go for broke.

Cacau tries an audacious lob after seeing Muslera off his line, but it's way over the crossbar. Alert, but a poor attempt.

Free-kick Germany as Muller is fouled by Perez on the turn. It's taken quickly, but Khadira gives away possession.

And it's the South American's who have come out with the bigger intent here as they continue to attack Germany. Excellent play by Tabarez's side. Germany yet to respond to the wake up call.

GOAL! WHAT A FABOULOUS GOAL! TERRIFIC VOLLEY FROM FORLAN! Uruguay 2-1 Germany! Arevalo pulls it back onto Forlan's right foot and he slams a brilliant volley into the net! What a strike.

Jansen beats his man and crosses, Godin heads clear... it falls to Khadira who shoots, but the ball is charged down.

Ozil plays a neat one-two with Khadira, but it's snuffed out by Arevalo. Super break by Uruguay, Cavani hits it against Butt who makes a great save, it fulls to Suarez, ohhh! Another fine save by Butt who tips it away. Forlan's corner is cleared.

And we are back under way as Germany restart. Early exchanges are rapid and tense as both teams a re aware of the pressure the next goal will have.

Uruguay 1-1 Germany. It's been a pleasant half of football from both teams. Muller kicked his side into the lead after 19 minutes as he pounced on a spilled ball from Muslera. But less than 10 minutes elapsed before Cavani drew his side level. This time it was Schweinsteiger who was at fault as his loss in possession allowed the opposition through to score.

Half-Time! The referee blows his whistle. All level at the interval.

Free-kick Germany. Schweinsteiger hits it, but it takes a deflection off Lugano and goes behind for a corner... Fucile clears, another corner... Muslera gathers, but drops, cleared... Uruguay break... but Pereira shows too much of it to Boateng.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh! Suarez drags his effort wide. What a miss, what a chance. He won't get one better than that. He is fed by Forlan, beats Freidrich, but blasts his effort wide of the far post. Butt did well to stay on his feet.

Uruguay finishing the half strongly here as they continue to attack and press Germany. Butt does well to get his hands around Fucile's cross.

Great long searching crossfield pass by Lugano who hits it towards Cavani. Flagged offside, but he seemed on. Poor decision from the assistant.

Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Jansen... ahhh what an awful cross. He looks down to the ground as if to blame the pitch for his wayward cross.

And the rain continues to pour down heavily at Mandela Bay. Ozil needlessly tugs on Fucile and the play goes Uruguay's way. It's back with Jansen, he wins a throw as the Germans maintain possession.

The game is starting to open up more now as both sides show a hunger for goal as they attack and counter attack each other. Cavani links well with Caceres who wins the corner. Forlan goes over to take it... Mertesacker heads the ball away.

Great ball by Jansen to Ozil who crosses well, Muller is at the back stick, but Godin gets their in time to make a vital clearance.

The bronze medal is back up for grabs for Uruguay who are back in contention, but what a serious mistake by Schweinsteiger who is caught napping. Poor play from the midfielder and the South Americans took full advantage.

1-1! URUGUAY HAVE EQUALISED! Schweinsteiger is bullied off the ball by Perez who feeds Suarez who turns it for Cavani and the Palermo man makes no mistake as he finishes well to beat Butt and score his first of the tournament.

Ohhhhhhh! Khadira heads over the bar from Ozil's cross... wait... he's offside, it would not have counted. Lightening break by the Germans though.

Uruguay on the ball, but they are struggling to break down their opponents who are solid in every area. Friedrich clears from Fucile. The throw comes in. Suarez turns and the cross falls to Forlan, he heads it down, but Mertesacker clears.

Ohhhhhhh! Great find by Ozil who slots in Khadira as he steps on the gas, but the cross-shot is a poor one and causes little trouble for Uruguay.

And it's Germany who have drawn first blood here. The Uruguayan's fell asleep on that one as they never tracked Muller who made no mistake from close range.

1-0 GERMANY! Muller scores for his side as he pounces on Muslera's spilled save from Schweinsteiger's long range effort. The forward anticipates and runs through to take full advantage. Goalkeeper at fault.

And the crowd have started their Mexican wave and it does justice to opening exchanges as neither side have really troubled the goalkeepers. Germany are happy just to sit back.

Good play by Uruguay who build up their attack well, but Cavani's cross from the left is too long for Forlan. Both sides are playing well as Jansen breaks, but Fucile clears the ball.

Suarez finds Pereira, it's a nice exchange, but he cannot wrap his boot around it properly as the cross goes wayward and behind for a German goalkick.

Throw into Uruguay following persistent play down the right. Fucile wins it and takes it... he goes long... but it's headed clear. It's another throw to Uruguay as they continue to probe. Jansen clears.

Ozil spreads for Jansen... He wins the corner. Good work by the Germans. Schweinsteigers swings it into the box, Luganoi does well to clear. Cacau swings it back in and Fucile conceeds another corner... Friedrich! Ohhh! Off the crossbar. What a chance for Germany.

Free-kick Uruguay. Forlan hits it into the wall. It's another set piece as a German player handles. It's now on the edge of the box. Forlan wants another bash... Ohhhhhhh! That wasn't far away from the top corner. Great curling effort by the hitman.

Jansen finds Aogo who tires to cross. Ouch! that must have hurt as Aogo goes in hard on Perez. He should have been off as that is a terrible challenge. Uruguay's midfielder is lucky he hasn't suffered a big injury.

It's pretty tight from both sides. Aogo hits it long. Fucile fouls Schweinsteiger. The Bayern man swings it in, but Perez heads clear. Mueller scores but the flag is up.

And it's Uruguay who kick off in their all blue kit. Germany are all in black. Oscar Tabarez's men hold on to it and move it around as they test the early waters.
