Player Ratings: Tottenham 3-1 Wigan

Luka Modric and Gareth Bale were on the scoresheet as Spurs picked up all three points at White Hart Lane to continue their Premier League title charge

Brad Friedel

Did nothing in the first half because nothing was asked of him. Had a couple of simple saves to make in the second but could do nothing about Wigan's deflected goal.

Younes Kaboul

Calm and composed at the back, dealt with most that was required and was very unlucky not to score from one of two Van der Vaart corners.

Ledley King

7.0

Maybe losing a bit of pace but King still has the nous to provide stern cover at the back. Could do little with the goal Spurs conceded but will no doubt be disappointed.

Kyle Walker

Began with his usual detail of marauding up and down the right flank and stuck to his task encouragingly, providing a useful outlet for the midfield.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto

Not his best game but was as composed as ever and provided a decent outlet on the left. Was lucky to escape punishment for a studs-up challenge on Di Santo

Wonderful finish for his first goal, chesting Modric's pass into his path before volleying past Al-Habsi. The winger showed great awareness of the gaps around him, constantly switching with Kranjcar and dropping deep when required. Had a couple of efforts that were repelled by Al-Habsi but, overall, looked back to his devastating self, delivering another trademark goal in the second half. His shift and shot low past Al-Habsi was finely placed and was unlucky not to grab a hat-trick.

Scott Parker

I seem to say this every week but he was full of energy and kept Spurs ticking along nicely. Put few passes astray and was rabid in the tackle.

Rafael van der Vaart

Started well and provided a couple of chances through well-taken corners but was replaced after 31 minutes with a calf injury as Livermore came on.

Luka Modric

Majestic display from Tottenham's little artist. His superb vision created the first goal with a fine pass over the Wigan defence. Showed great reactions to latch onto a deflected clearance to slot low and hard past Al-Habsi for Spurs' second goal.

Niko Kranjcar

Started off on the right flank but drifted inside to good effect. Had one early chance in the box to shoot but opted for the dummy before cutting back to Modric who blazed over. Popped up on the wide left again to curl his effort into Al-Habsi's hands. Second half saw him come into his own as he began to dictate play despite some hefty challenges.

Emmanuel Adebayor

Guilty of a couple of missed chances inside the box but his presence is of great benefit to Spurs. The movement and ability to link with the midfield is always welcome. Made way for Lancaster.

Jake Livermore

Enforced change with Van der Vaart injured, came on and looked solid alongside Parker. Had to move to right-back once Walker went off and was exposed for their goal.

Sandro

Came on for Kyle Walker with 15 to play and tried to get involved on his comeback.

Cameron Lancaster

The 19-year-old made his professional debut coming on for Adebayor with 12 minutes to play. Looked lively but had little of the ball.

Ali Al Habsi

There was always going to be a lot for him to do tonight and he started superbly, denying Kaboul's close-range header.

Gary Caldwell

Tried to lead by example but his the resilience required from a back five was not evident. Not in the greatest of form and it showed.

Emmerson Boyce

6.5

Was part of a defensive-minded Wigan side but didn't cover himself in glory for the third goal, which came far too easily for Spurs. Boyce could have protected Ben Watson better in that instance.

Ronnie Stam

Did his best to provide width and initially coped well with Bale. However, the third goal came from his flank when he was too slow to close down Assou-Ekotto

Maynor Figueroa

Played on the left side of the three centre-backs and was probably the best of the trio. Wasn't directly at fault for any of the goals, in my opinion, though certainly unlucky to see his interception deflect back off Jordi Gomez and into Modric's path for the second goal.

James McCarthy

Did his best alongside Watson to provide some cover but found the going tough with the rapidity of Spurs' movement in midfield. Did clear one Kaboul header off the line early on.

Ben Watson

Similarly did his best to snuff out Modric and co. but ultimately it proved a fruitless task. Was replaced late on by Crusat after he was guilty of allowing Bale too much space for the third goal.

Victor Moses

Played from the left and had Wigan's best chance, shooting over from the edge of the box. Also struggled.

Jordi Gómez

Was the unfortunate body in the way of Caldwell's clearance that led to Modric's goal. Struggled to get on the ball and was subbed on 70 minutes.

Jean Beausejour

Not the best debut for the Chilean. He looked composed on the ball but his positioning was found wanting for the opening goal.

Franco Di Santo

Didn't hold the ball as well as he can and was a lonely figure up top. Got stuck in on Modric and Kranjcar and picked up a booking before getting raked down the shin by Assou-Ekotto and duly subbed.

Came on with a few minutes to play but did little and got booked.

James McArthur

Entered play for Gomez on 70 minutes and scored Wigan's goal. Made in-roads down the left and his deflected shot looped over Friedel.

Conor Sammon

Came on for the injured Di Santo but was largely uninvolved.
