Rarely tested; in the end, all he really had to do was claim some crosses. Was quick off his line when needed, though.

Made one poor pass, but won back the ball immediately. Otherwise, the Serbian defender was excellent: Kiessling hardly ever looked a threat, and when he did, Subotic was typically on hand to halt him. Nearly scored a goal too, with a good free kick.

Marked Kiessling very well, forcing the striker to drop deep to have any possession. Was a little less clean in the challenge than usual, however. On the other end, he nearly got an assist following a fine run and clever ball to Lewandowski.

An absolute rock at the back. Did well to cover Kiessling and deny what should have been a goal. Decidedly won the battle with Lars Bender on the flank as he was victorious nearly every challenge.

Not the best of days from the left-back, who did not exactly give Grosskreutz very much support. Played one or two decent balls in, but too often resorted to long-ranged or risky passes. Should have kept things simpler.

Another good game for the resurgent captain, who celebrates his 32nd birthday on Monday. Did not try the spectacular, but moved into space well and made some good passes to Lewandowski around the edge of the penalty box.

A good, if unremarkable game from the Polish winger. Added none of the wizardry that Gotze typically provides, but worked hard, and played the final ball ahead of Kagawa's opener.

A game to forget. Twice missed one-on-ones with Leno, and on another occasion his poor pass ended a counter-attacking chance.

A week after he badly turned his ankle, the former 1860 Munich man was fit enough to play 90 minutes and cover over 12.8km. Did nothing remarkable in the centre, but closed down his opponents well, retained possession, and won the ball back. Did very well with all the little things.

Failed to score again, but held up the ball well and made life very difficult for Friedrich in particular.

Simply outstanding. Made two superb stops from Grosskreutz in one-on-one situations, and was brilliant to come off his line to snuff out danger. If Leverkusen are to have a chance against Barcelona in the Champions League, he is their ticket.

Better than Friedrich in the centre of defence, he had the discipline not to be caught out of position. Still left plenty to be desired in that his communication with the 32-year-old remains suspect.

Conceded possession cheaply on one occasion, but otherwise had a relatively good game individually. Strong in the challenge and much better in possession than Rolfes.

Very active on the left wing, the former St. Pauli loanee did well to limit Kuba's involvement and linked well with Bender in midfield.

Used his size as an asset to help the centre-backs, but made one woeful mistake when he nodded the ball straight to Grosskreutz for a chance that should have resulted in a goal.

Utilised primarily in an unfamiliar, central role, the 24-year-old was by no means a No. 10. Long before the end it was quite clear that he was not the right man for the creative role in midfield, in which he was unfortunate to be used.

Not a very good game from the captain, who gave the ball away too easily and was quite clearly overwhelmed by Dortmund's pace. Replaced after an hour.

Ran and ran and ran, but was bested by his twin brother. Played in a good cross or two, but was just a bit too slow to the ball in many instances.

Wasted a chance on the half hour mark, and was very underwhelming. Has tremendous talent, but simply will not make it show this season.

Had a couple decent moments on the counter early on, but was utterly anonymous for long spells, especially after the break. His best chance on goal was actually towards his own net, and nearly put the game out of reach.
