Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 Evian: Nene scores a brace to lead les Parisiens to hard earned victory

A brace from the Brazilian and one from Kevin Gameiro enabled the capital club to remain three points clear at the top of the table after a come-from-behind victory

Paris Saint-Germain remain three points clear of Montpellier at the top of Ligue 1 after a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Evian at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.

The visitors took a shock lead when Cedric Cambon capitalised on lax defending to direct home the opener in first half stoppage time. PSG's response was an almost immediate one, with Nene scoring two minutes after the restart. Further strikes from the Brazilian and Kevin Gameiro sealed a fifth straight win.

Carlo Ancelotti, who headed into the game boasting a 100% record as PSG manager, made two changes to the side which beat Stade Brestois last weekend. New 10m signing Thiago Motta was handed his Ligue 1 debut, replacing Blaise Matuidi. Likewise, Pablo Correa made two changes to the team that turned out in the 0-0 draw against Bordeaux.

After a tight, and slightly mediocre start in the capital, it would be the visitors who would register a first opportunity. Christian Poulsen slipped in Mohammed Rabiu, whose effort soared over the bar.

The hosts upped their attacking tempo following that lull. Kevin Gameiro escaped his marker, latching onto Nene's through ball, but his effort hopelessly flashed wide. Minutes later, debutant Motta laid off a through ball onto Gameiro, who again shot wide of Stephan Andersen's goal.

Despite the match descending into a physical competition with no less than four yellow cards in a tensely fought first half, les Parisiens came closest to breaking the deadlock. Nene dispatched a simple through ball to Jeremy Menez, whose fierce left footed shot rebounded off the left post.

It would be Evian who would take a shock lead at the Parc des Princes. Poor defending allowed Olivier Sorlin to locate Cedric Cambon from a corner, with the latter heading in past Salvatore Sirigu on the stroke of half time, as Pablo Correa's men ended the half strongly.

The lead lasted only of two minutes, as PSG emerged from the interval fully charged. An intricate one-two with Jeremy Menez saw Nene calmly stroke the ball into the bottom corner for his 10th league goal of the campaign.

The hosts were easily on top early into the second period as Evian's defence floundered. Nene and Menez again created attacking chances from out wide, with Gameiro unable to beat Andersen and convert the openings afforded to him.

Evian, who had lost their last four away games on the trot, suddenly started to find their feet with efforts from Poulsen and Daniel Wass testing Salvatore Sirigu, as the visitors searched for the game-changing goal.

Inevitably however, it would be les Parisiens who emerged with the second. Menez was felled in the box, with referee Said Ennjimi unhesitant in awarding a penalty. Up stepped Nene to slot away his second of the evening, and Gameiro sealed all three points with a fine finish in stoppage time.

PSG remain three points ahead of nearest challengers Montpellier and a full 12 points ahead of rivals Marseille. Carlo Ancelotti's men next encounter Nice next weekend, while Evian travel to Caen and remain in 14th place.
