Singapore nearly found a way back into the game with their first real chance of the night. Aleksandar Duric's shot from close range, after Noh Rahman's low cross had evaded most players inside the penalty box, came off the inside corner of the framework.

But just minutes after that, Li Weifeng doubled his side's advantage as he rose highest to nod home a corner at the far post.

Firdaus Idros again came close for the hosts, who were still looking for only their second goal at this stage of the qualifiers. His toe-poke was just tipped wide as it looked to trickle into the bottom corner of the net.
