Player Ratings: Ghana 2-1 Tunisia
Goal.com rates the players who participated in Sunday evening's Afcon quarter-final, as the Black Stars managed to edge out the Carthage Eagles in extra-time
By Livio Caferoglu
Generally had a quiet game and was not tested by Tunisia's attackers bar the goal which he was helpless to.
Scored the elusive opening goal and up until his injury, was commanding influence at the back for Ghana, alongside Alhassan. Replaced by Vorsah.
Attacking-wise his performance could not be faulted, as he constantly drove into his opponents half at will and supported his forwards admirably. However, he was caught out for Khlifa's equaliser.
A quiet game in defence, where he was not show stopping in his duties by any means but did not make any glaring errors.
Not as daring as Inkoom on the opposite flank, but solid in his responsibilities at the back nevertheless.
Quietly effective in the middle of the park alongside Agyemang-Badu, he was important in keeping the balance in midfield together.
Extremely industrious performance from the Udinese man, who offered power and steel in the middle of the park, allowing the likes of Ayew and Gyan to plough forward.
Not his best of games in a Black Stars shirt, but nevertheless provided the assist for the opening goal with a pinpoint cross and was tidy enough in possession without ever grabbing the game by the horns.
Did not offer too much in the final third, but his work rate could not be faulted, along with the rest of his team-mates, as he slotted into the midfield well.
Lead the line well and showed great endeavour but was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, mainly due to the form of Mathlouthi.
Lively performance from the Marseille forward, who posed the Tunisia backline frequent problems with his agility and quick feet. Scored the goal which put his country in the semis, but conned the referee for Abdennour's sending off.
Was a threat from set-pieces, while not neglecting his defensive duties. A more-than-capable substitute for Mensah in the second half, bar a couple of hiccups.
Late cameo from the forward, who did not add anything to his side's armoury.
Injected pace and trickery into an increasingly-stale Ghana attack and arguably helped inspire his side to the winning goal in extra time with mazy dribbles and dashes of skill.
If not for his howler to gift Ghana a place in the final four, he would have been a certainty for man-of-the-match, with numerous saves to keep Tunisia in the tie.
The young stopper did not have the easiest of games against Ayew, as he struggled to contain his opponent and was eventually hauled off in favour of Boussaidi.
Not a memorable performance from the centre-back, who was given the run-around by Gyan and the Ayew brothers, and found it hard to cope with their explosive nature on occasion.
The constant overlapping of Inkoom down his flank meant he was continually forced to defend deep and saw his impact as an attacking outlet suffer.
Struggled with the intensity of Ghana's attacking players throughout the tie, but despite not deserving of his red card, he should have been far stronger in dealing with Ayew.
The Karabukspor managed to deal with Muntari well, as the latter had another poor game for Ghana. However, despite forming a cohesive partnership with Saihi, he did not offer much in an attacking sense.
His reputation as a stylish goalscoring midfielder was not to be seen against the Black Stars as he drifted in and out. A major disappointment.
The anchorman failed to truly assert his authority on the match, as Badu and Annan were dominant in the midfield battle, and was forced to work his socks off to win the ball back.
Arguably his side's best player, the playmaker was always on the move, looking to play his team-mates through with his vision. Sadly his team-mates were generally not on his wavelength.
Assisted his side's equaliser with a deft touch and a pinpoint cross, but he slowly fizzled out of the encounter and was replaced by Darragi in extra time.
The hitman held the ball up well for his colleagues without ever truly threatening the Ghanaian back line, and scored via a powerful header to give his side hope.
The stopper did not cover himself in glory as he was all over the place for Ayew's winner, and was not convincing as Ifa's replacement.
Late cameo from the substitute attacker, who could not find an equaliser.
The prolific forward was thrown on with the aim of salvaging a goal or two for Tunisia, but could not beat Ghana's watertight back line, who stifled his impact.
