The Serie A match between Parma and Inter has been officially postponed after heavy snowfall in the Emilia Romagna city.

The weather further worsened overnight and the Italian authorities decided to call off the game despite a protective sheet being laid on the pitch yesterday.

As well as the pitch there were also fears over the safety of the spectators because of the icy conditions on the majority of the Tardini’s stands, as the stadium was sold out for the visit of the Serie A leaders.

Although maintenance workers made a concerted late effort to render the pitch playable and the stands safe, it was decided to call off the match on Sunday morning.

The match has been rescheduled for Wednesday February 10th at 20:45 local time.
