BOLOGNA
Colombo: 8 – Had a fairly quiet first half, but almost handed Ronaldinho an opening goal when he misread Pirlo’s flag-kick. After that he was a one-man wall, anticipating opportunities for Huntelaar, Borriello and Mancini brilliantly to keep his side on terms.
Raggi: 7 – Was more of a threat going forward than usual and also did a commendable enough job on Ronaldinho in his own half.
Portanova: 6.5 – Won most high balls into the box with ease, but often left scrambling to clear as his lack of pace left him exposed.
Moras: 6.5 – Strong as an ox, and dealt fairly well with Borriello and Huntelaar.
Lanna: 6.5 – Decent cover snuffed out Mancini for the most part. Had a bit more to do when Beckham came on, but couldn’t cut out the crosses.
Busce: 6 – Steady on the right without threatening Milan too much.
Mudingayi: 5.5 – Over-run completely by the Milan midfield
Guana: 6.5 – Good link play when going forward, and battled his hardest when his team were without the ball.
Modesto: 5.5 – Some aimless balls forward were about the best he could produce on the ball, but doubled up well in defence.
Gimenez: 5 – Provided the speed of thought to effectively link the midfield with Marco Di Vaio early on, but fell off the pace very quickly and was replaced at
half-time.
Di Vaio: 6.5 – Led the line well, always keeping the defenders honest, but had less and less opportunities as the match progressed.
Subs:
Adailton: 6 – An improvement on Gimenez, but left with little to do given Milan’s domination of possession late on.
Britos: NA – Given 12 minutes to help keep the sheet clean at the back.
Succi: NA
MILAN
Dida: 6 – Made one parry from Di Vaio’s left-foot effort but had little else to do.
Abate: 6.5 – Tested rarely at the back, but covered well when needed. His crossing needs work to help Milan’s attacking game down the right.
Thiago Silva: 6.5 – Steady as ever at the back, forcing Di Vaio to shoot from wide in one of the few bright moments for the home side.
Bonera: 6.5 – Made an excellent clean tackle on Di Vaio early on as he set the scene for a solid performance. Better than any other effort by a Milan reserve in Nesta’s absence this season.
Antonini: 6.5 – Given a fairly easy ride by Busce, but didn’t do enough to help out on the ball.
Pirlo: 7.5 – Absolutely everywhere. Involved in most Milan moves, and really showing a comfort on the ball which has been lacking of late. His set pieces could maybe have been better.
Ambrosini: 6.5 – Worked hard again, continuing his recent renaissance. Honest enough to turn down a first-half penalty.
Seedorf: 5.5 – Again failed to really dictate the pace of the game and was replaced on the hour mark.
Mancini: 6.5 – Starved of the ball for the most part, but did ok when given the opportunity. Denied by Colombo in one of Milan’s better moments, but tried too many difficult passes at times.
Borriello: 7 – Didn’t look as sharp as of late, but still caused the back four some trouble and forged a couple of decent chances for himself.
Ronaldinho: 6 – One excellent cross-field pass for Mancini which almost created a chance for Seedorf, but for the most part was much quieter than during his excellent run in December and January.
Subs:
Huntelaar: 6 – Handed half an hour to get at the Bologna back-line but failed to nick a goal, despite coming close when foiled by a full-length dive from
Colombo.
Beckham: NA – Given only 12 minutes as a replacement for Ronaldinho.
