Catania striker Maxi Lopez has promised to find the back of the net on a regular basis following his winner against Lazio yesterday.

It was the striker’s first goal since arriving from Brazilian club Gremio and, speaking to CalcioCataniatv, the former Barcelona man said he was delighted to have gotten off the mark in such an important game.

“I'm happy to be part of this club” said the striker, who was heavily linked with a move to Lazio before signing for Catania, adding “some have interpreted my celebration as a protest against [Claudio] Lotito, but it was just a joy for me and for the fans who expect so much. I hope to repay the trust of the fans by scoring plenty of goals."

The 25-year-old went on to say that the victory put Rossazzurri in good steed to achieve their first goal of survival in Serie A.

"Now with the victory against Lazio, soon we hope to achieve our objective which is survival.”

Finally, the striker admitted he was flattered to be compared to former Lazio great Alen Boksic but said he would prefer to make a name for himself.

I look like Boksic? The Croatian has been a great striker but I want to make my way. But it is important to the union of group to reach a collective objective and not just the individual."
