Genoa Boss Gian Piero Gasperini Foresees Juventus Revival
The tactician will wish Zaccheroni well after Sunday’s clash…
By Vince Masiello
Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has no doubt that Serie A giants Juventus will soon reverse their fortunes and manage to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Juve have dropped into seventh in the table after a dismal run of one win in their last eight outings, but Gasperini is adamant that new boss Alberto Zaccheroni will steer them out of the tunnel.
“I wish Zaccheroni well, but starting next Monday…” Gasperini joked during an interview with Tuttosport ahead of the Grifoni’s trip to Turin on Sunday.
“It will be a crucial stage for my Genoa this weekend as we face a big team. If we get a positive result we will stretch our undefeated run and broaden our horizons.
“But it will be tough. Juve are going through a bad patch, but given the quality of their squad, I’m sure they will get back on track.
“They didn’t strike me as a team in chaos when they played Livorno. I never trust the Bianconeri. I know them inside out as I spent nine years in their youth academy.
“They will sort out their problems and I wouldn’t be surprised if they managed a winning streak and climbed back into the top places.”
Genoa and Juve shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Marassi in the reverse fixture last September.
