Juventus Could Enter Franck Ribery Race - Report
A touch of good fortune could give Juve some alone time with the Frenchman…
By Rupert Fryer
According to Tuttosport, Fiat vice-president and Juventus patron John Elkann has been invited to the seventieth birthday party of German publishing magnate Hubert Burda, an invitational with a guest list including a certain Mr. Ribery.
Juventus had previously expressed an interest in the former Marseille man and vice-general manager Roberto Bettega is reportedly keen to rekindle their pursuit following the Frenchman’s current reluctance to sign a new deal with Bayern.
Elkann is also said to be eager to add to the Bianconeri’s rich tradition of talented French stars and hopes Ribery will follow in the footsteps of Juve legends Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane.
Barcelona currently look like front-runners for Ribery’s signature, if he does decide to leave Germany, and so Elkann will certainly have his work cut-out if he expects to persuade the 26-year-old to move to Turin.
