Bologna goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has said he has no rivalry with Palermo's Salvatore Sirigu for a place in Italy's starting XI. The two shot-stoppers started one game each during recent wins over Estonia and the Faroe Islands in Euro 2012 qualifying.

"Sirigu and I are friends, we often speak in the locker room and have an excellent relationship. Competition [for places] is part of the game," he revealed to Ansa.

Gianluigi Buffon, the Azzurri's number one is out with injury, but Viviano suggested his spot is waiting for him when he returns.

"Someone like him is only born every 50 years," he admitted.

"At 24, I'm certainly in no hurry. Will I be penalised because I play for Bologna? [Italy coach Cesare] Prandelli doesn't see things that way."
