Dede has revealed his desire to stay with Vasco da Gama in order to play in next year’s Copa Libertadores.

The 23-year-old defender had an outstanding season in the Brazilian championship and has been linked with Italian sides Juventus and Roma, as well as Portuguese outfit Benfica.

However, Dede insists that he has no intention of moving to Europe during the January transfer window.

"My intention is to play the Libertadores,” he is quoted as saying by Lancenet. “It's everyone's goal, a dream.

“We have a strong and confident team. All Brazilian clubs want to play this competition.
“Today, despite speculation, my desire is to play the Libertadores.

"In terms of offers, we never know what's coming, what will happen. [But] I hope that Vasco comes up with a good project with good planning.... I want to play the World Cup in 2014, which will be played in Brazil.”

Dede, who has been capped twice by his country, is contracted to Vasco until 2014 but he has a release clause in his current deal of €20 million.
