New Palermo signing Emiliano Viviano determined to get back to action and eyes Italy recall
The six-times capped goalkeeper has moved to Sicily in search of regular football, and wants to play a key role for his new club with a view to return to the national team
By Gareth McKnight
The ex-Bologna goalkeeper signed for Inter at the start of the 2011-12 season, but did not make an appearance for Claudio Ranieri's side due to rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
The 26-year-old is keen to start playing again, and has admitted that he is available for the Stadio Renza Barbera team’s game against Genoa this weekend.
"I'm fine, thanks to my strong character that enabled me to respond immediately to my injury," he told Ansa.
"After six months of inactivity I have a great desire to return. I feel great; from the day after I hurt myself I started to work.
"I just really want to play. It would be ideal if I could play for Palermo and return to the national team.
"I have been amazed by the affection of the people of Palermo, although I have not done anything yet for their team.
"Can I play on Sunday? I am available, the coach will decide," he concluded.
