AC Milan have included Stephan El Shaarawy in their 25-man squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

With a last 16 tie against Arsenal now only a fortnight away, Rossoneri boss Massimiliano Allegri has shown faith in the 19-year-old, who has recently begun to prove his worth with a string of encouraging performances.

However, despite confirming his decision to remain at San Siro after being heavily linked with a January exit, veteran striker Filippo Inzaghi has not been handed a place in the squad and will not feature in the latter stages of the competition.

Nevertheless, new signings Djamel Mesbah and Maxi Lopez have both been included, whilst Alexander Merkel is on standby.

The Scudetto holders look to take control of the tie against Arsene Wenger's men, with the first leg to be played out in northern Italy on February 15.

The squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Abbiati, Amelia, Roma
Defenders: Abate, Antonini, Bonera, De Sciglio, Mesbah, Mexes, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Yepes, Zambrotta
Midfielders: Ambrosini, Aquilani, Boateng, Emanuelson, Merkel (list B), Nocerino, Seedorf and Van Bommel
Forwards: El Shaarawy, Ibrahimovic, Maxi Lopez, Pato, Robinho
