The Partenopei paid a reported €1.5 million to bring the player to Italy back in August but he is already returning home after making just two substitute appearances in Serie A for Walter Mazzarri's side.
According to the Napoli website, Chavez has penned a six-month loan deal with his former club, while there have been unconfirmed reports that San Lorenzo have the option to resign the player on a permanent transfer for €250,000.
The 24-year-old forward amassed a grand total of 19 minutes of league football during his stint in Italy.
