Inter's Julio Cesar rues Fiorentina draw
By Luis Mira
Apr 22, 2012 2:00:00 PM
The Brazil international was unhappy with the draw against the Viola but noted that the team will have more opportunities to climb up the Serie A table
Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar has lamented that his side were unable to close in on the Champions League places following Sunday's goalless draw at Fiorentina. The Brazilian shot-stopper helped to keep the scoreline unaltered as he saved Adem Ljajic's penalty kick in the second half.
The Nerazzurri remain seventh in the Serie A table following the stalemate, and Julio Cesar did not hide his disappointment with yet another negative result from his side.
"This has been a difficult season for us, but we are trying," he told Sky Sport Italia. "We had the hundreth opportunity to get closer to the third spot, but Fiorentina defended well and we could not find space.
"Today's match was not an easy one. We will do the math in the end, there are many matches remaining."
Inter, who have 49 points from 33 matches, will visit Udinese on Wednesday in their rescheduled match from Round 33.
