Boca Juniors set for kind Copa Libertadores draw in group stage
The Xeneixe will face teams from Venezuela, Brazil and either Peru or a fellow Argentine side in the group stages, if they complete their conquest of the 2011 Apertura
By Daniel Edwards
The Argentine giants are on the verge of securing the Apertura title, standing eight points clear of closest rivals Racing Club with four games to play. If they win, they will enter the competition as 'Argentina 1', which would place them in Group 4 with Venezuelan side Zamora, the fourth Brazilian qualifier and the winner of a play-off between Arsenal de Sarandi and Peru 3.
Champions Santos, meanwhile, will play in Group 1 alongside Peru 1, Bolivia 2 and the winner of the fifth play-off. The draw was held on Friday in the Paraguayan city of Luque, and as always at this stage will depend on how the South American leagues finish before the teams and groups can be finalised.
Preliminary Round Draw:
1: Argentina 5 vs. Peru 3
2: Brazil 5 vs. Bolivia 3
3: Penarol vs. Caracas FC
4: Paraguay 3 vs. Ecuador 3
5: Brazil 6 vs. Colombia 3
6: Tigres (MEX) vs. Chile 3
