Wolfsburg Defender Ricardo Costa Joins Ligue 1 Side Lille - Official
It’s a case of one-in and one-out for die Wolfe, but the signature of the Portuguese will be precious to LOSC...
By Robin Bairner
Speaking to the German club’s official website, manager Dieter Hoeness explained: “Ricardo turned up at the club a few weeks ago with the desire to seek a new challenge. We made our agreement dependent on whether we could get a new central defender.”
With the news that Rever has signed for die Wolfe, the Portuguese joins les Dogues, who currently lie third in Le Championnat.
“I had a very nice time in Wolfsburg, not only because of the happiness from winning the championship,” he said. “But those days are now closed. I wish VfL all the best. They are a good club and I have met a lot of great players.”
Meanwhile, his new side are distinctly short on players to cover their rearguard, so the arrival of the Portuguese international will be a great boost to the side, who lost Nicolas Plestan to injury once more at the beginning of the year.
Sitting 10 points from the summit of Ligue 1, the title is probably too much to ask of Rudi Garcia’s side, though a push for a Champions League place is certainly not out of the question.
