Barcelona's summer presidential election campaign will be dominated by talk of Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, with both candidates set to focus their repsective campaigns on bringing the Spain international 'home' to Catalonia.

Reports indicate that both Joan Laporta's favoured candidate Alfons Godall and Sandro Rosell will publicly make the acquisition of the Gunners' captain a central issue of the election.

Rosell brokered the deal that took Fabregas to north London in 2003, securing a £1 million compensation for the player and a first option for Barca should the 22-year-old ever decide to leave Arsenal.

His focus over the summer is expected to be that Fabregas should never have been allowed to leave in the first place.

Laporta, who is not eligible for re-election, has made a point of trying to make the Blaugrana as Catalan as possible during his tenure as president, and Godall is expected to maintain that stance.

Bringing Fabgregas back to the Nou Camp would therefore be a massive coup for Godall.
