McDonald Mariga's move from Parma to Manchester City has failed because of a number of problems, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Mariga was set to join City in a €10million deal which would have seen Valeri Bojinov remain in Italy, with the Kenyan signing a permanent deal in England. Both clubs had agreed a deal on Thursday, leaving just a few loose ends to be wrapped up.

City were hoping to announce the move by then end of play, but, the report claims problems relating to burocratic issues, including the player's number of appearances for Kenya, as well as work permit questions, have seen the deal fail.

The result sees Mariga stay on at the Ennio Tardini, with Parma's search for an alternative midfielder called off.
