Barcelona and Real Madrid are both monitoring the contract negotiations between Jesus Navas and club Sevilla, and are ready to pounce should the parties fail to agree terms.

Navas, who is born and bred in Andalucia and has been a part of the club since the year 2000 when he joined the youth ranks, has previously confessed his love for the club, and has even been previously forced to leave Spanish national team training due to homesickness.

However, the 24-year old is now a La Roja regular, and it was previously understood that the player’s long-term future would be resolved by los Nervionenses to ward off interest from the big two.

But radio station Cadena SER comments that both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been in direct contact with Navas’ agent to assess the likelihood that the player would consider a move away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The contract offer on the table to Navas is likely to be considerably larger than any renewal that Sevilla would be able to offer, and this may be a pivotal factor in where the winger sees his future.

One stumbling block however may be Sevilla’s valuation of Navas, with club president Jose Maria del Nido a notoriously shrewd negotiator.
