Valon Behrami: I rejected Juventus offer because Fiorentina made me feel important
The Swiss midfielder admitted that rejecting a move to the Turin-based club was not an easy decision but stressed he is happy with life in Florence
By Luis Mira
The Switzerland international revealed on Sunday that he never considered joining Juventus as the move meant he would have to 'betray' Fiorentina.
"Juventus were an opportunity for me," Behrami told reporters. "It was not an easy time for me, because Fiorentina were struggling.
"The club made me feel important. There is a different spirit now: we are fighting and we want to bring back the fans."
Fiorentina come off two straight Serie A victories, including a 3-2 win against high-flying Udinese, and Behrami has praised the work of coach Delio Rossi.
"He is a hard-working coach, he just needed time," the midfielder explained. "We have improved so much, especially in defensive actions."
The Florence-based club lie in 10th position in the Serie A standings, with 28 points from 21 matches.
