Wayne Rooney Wouldn't Be Able To Adapt To Spanish Football - Real Madrid Director Jorge Valdano
Valdano insists the Manchester United star doesn't interest Real...
By Rupert Fryer
Valdano told Radio COPE, “He [Rooney] is extraordinary, very, very good. But Rooney is English and we all know they find it difficult to adapt to another type of competition outside of the Premier League.”
The Merengues have bought their own fair share of English players in recent years with David Beckham and, even more so, Steve McManaman, being widely regarded as huge successes in Madrid.
While Jonathan Woodgate struggled with injuries before making a swift return to England, Michael Owen ended his season in La Liga with the best goal-to-minutes ratio in Spain.
However, Valdano seemingly remains convinced that Rooney would not be a good signing for Los Blancos, adding, “He is a very good player but we have never been interested.”
