Barcelona's goal against Sporting Gijon has created controversy in Spain, but president Joan Laporta laughed of suggestions that his side were being helped by referees.

Speaking to Marca, Laporta said, "These ridiculous allegations have gone on for years."

"We must not fall into their trap, but continue enjoying the best Barcelona side in our history. It hurts Madrid that we are playing so well, so they are trying to put pressure on us.

"There is no doubt about the impartiality and equality of all the clubs."

Barcelona currently sit atop La Liga, five points ahead of Real Madrid.
